Seeking help for my wife
Hi everyone,
I've been coming to this site over the past few days to do some research; I've known for a few years that my wife struggles with dermatillomania (since we began dating, actually), and although she and I work together to prevent her from starting (I check in on her when she's in the bathroom, console her after she catches herself, etc.), I'm worried that she's not slowing down. Additionally, she refuses to seek help - I've suggested that she visit anonymous sites like this one, at least to read about it and its causes, but I think she's afraid of what she'll find. She doesn't like talking about it, either. As far as I know, her picking is limited to her face. I just know how much it affects her confidence, and I want to help her.
My question for you is, how do I help her find ways to stop, if she won't open up? Is there something I can do?
