Severe gum picking/jabbing

My picking started with my lip..... After biting so deep one night and hitting an artery, that caused severe trauma! And 6 stitches!! I began the descent of picking and stabbing my gums..... Now I have a deep hole in one portion of my gum that I continually pick and stab! I stab with tooth picks... Pins.... Paper clips... My nails... Whatever I can find when I feel the overwhelming urge to do so! I know I need to seek help! I am worried about this addiction! I have fear of seeing a dentist! I know they will scold me for the mess I have made of my gums..... Does anyone else struggle with this??
