I just need some hope
Hi everyone. So I've been picking at my skin for a good 5 years now and have the scars to prove it. I have a question about the last mistake I've made. There was a zit on my neck that I kept picking at and it left me with what looked like an ulcer. It looked so bad I thought I might need stitches, so I made an appointment with my dermatologist. When she looked at it she told me I was over reacting and that it should heal. But there is literally a crater in my neck, it looks like a cigarette burn. She prescribed me Bactroban, which I have been using and it did help it heal faster, but yesterday in the shower, the scab that had formed fell off and now here I am with a crater yet again. However, I noticed that in the center of the crater, there is this white, grainy/flakey looking skin. I'm still putting the ointment on the wound, but do you guys think that since there is that white gainy/flakey skin under the scab that it means the lesion is still healing and that my crater *might* fill in? I just don't know at this point. Sometimes I've had indents fill in and other times they don't and I'm left with a crater. I just hope this grainy skin under the scab is a sign the wound is still healing and filling itself in. What do you guys think?

Hey,
I think it will heal. Just don't pick at the skin there anymore, and keep piling on the ointment. From experience, I know the hardest thing is keeping your fingers away, but if you do, your skin will seal itself up on its own better than if you squeeze and poke at it--trust me! The good thing is, you can cover the spot with a scarf--good luck, and keep your fingers away from it!
