Zinc oxide reduces redness

Has anyone else out there found using sunblock with titanium and zinc really reduces swelling and redness after having a picking issue? I have noticed every summer when I begin applying sunblock my KP and other self-inflicted wounds dramatically improve...just curious if there is a correlation....
