Heel Picking and keeping
Just found this site and already feel relieved I'm not the only skin picker. I particularly pick my heels and I pick until it bleeds or the pain is too much. Walking is horrible but I just can't seem to stop. I also keep the skin in a small container, I don't know why maybe because I like the texture. It's so weird but it makes me happy. Am I the only one that does this?
I have struggled with heel/foot picking for as long as I can remember. It is a very painful and difficult subject for me to talk about. I occasionally browse this site, and I have never heard of anyone like me (someone who picks their feet) until today, so I decided to respond lol. To answer your question no you are not alone.
I totally understand what you are going through (the bleeding, the pain, not being able to walk, even somtimes keeping the skin!). Two years ago I discovered this site and decided I needed to stop. I confided in someone close to me and it was the best thing I've ever done. I've talked with a doctor and found that this is most likely connected to ADHD and mild OCD. With help from medcine for my ADHD and my family holding me accountable my feet are now 100% healthy! When I was finally able to stop picking I took a dead skin remover (like a pedegg) to my heals and polished away all the craters of skin. No more scary feet after showers and swiming!!!!!
Recently, I got my very first pedicure. While that may sound mundane, this was something I never thought would be possible for me. I'm happy to offer any advice so if you are looking for it just ask! I think the best advice I could give you is: "Don't be afraid to talk to someone about it." The second I told someone the relief I felt was truly unbelievable.
Best of luck!
