concerned friend

Hi I have a friend and i have noticed that over the last few months he has had scabs up and down his arms. when i first asked him what had happpened he said he had burnt himslef on a frying pan. but when more appeared he admitted that he has been picking at his skin. he says the reason is because he gets bored in lectures at uni. the scabs ahve been getting worse and more frequent. Other than the first occurnace he does not lie about it, and does not seem overly embrassed. Do yoo think he has dermatillomania, and does anybody have nay suggestions about how to help him with this?
