Help--Covering cuts/keeping it from family

I'm visiting family this week, normally I live in shorts when I'm up that way. We all get together and go swimming and boating. The last time I was up there was probably two months ago. We were out in the forest and I can cut up pretty decently. I of course picked at all of the scabs. I still have some of them. My family always gives me crap about picking because they think it just itches so I scratch. I'm wearing pants to avoid a confrontation today, but I don't know about what to do for the near rest of the summer. I don't want to tell them yet. I'm still figuring things out.
