Toenail picking

I have been picking my toenails for so long I can’t even tell you when I started. I used to pluck my eyelashes and then turned into toenail picking. I’ll pick them so far on the side it will hurt and throb. I keep think I have an ingrow toenail but after a couple days the soreness goes away. It gets very red and throbs and sometimes I will have pus. I would like the pain in my toenails and I don’t know why. I am wondering if anyone has the same problem. I really want to quit but not that I have picked my toenails for so long they do not grow correctly.
