I've just learned about CSP- I'm not crazy!

Where to start? I've always been bad for picking spots & scabs every since I can remember. But in the last 3 or 4 years I have almost religiously been destroying my legs. Until now I've never known why I do it and I feel helpless to stop it. My legs are horrible now and I hate revealing them, so have to wear tights even in mid summer. I've even stopped swimming because I feel so ashamed of them. My mum & family can't understand why I would purposefully make them look so horrible, and I'm with them on that. Can anyone recommend good resources or forums to use for support. I truly can't believe I'm not alone in this. Thanks in advance Cat

hey-- as someone who has had the same problem as you, on my legs, for the past 7 years i can really empathise. honestly, try palmer's skin therapy oil (http://www.drugstore.com/qxp206666_333181_sespider/palmers/cocoa_butter_formula_with_vitamin_e_skin_therapy_oil.htm) on your legs. it smooths the skin and reduces the appearance of your scars, just use it 3 times a day, massaging it into the problem areas. i personally put it all over my legs (a little goes a long way!) and then massage it more into the worst spots. it has been working for me, within a week i could see a difference. i am hoping this could be the road to my recovery.. maybe it's yours too :) try it! it's around $8-10 a bottle, find it at Target or any beauty supply store that shelves a fair amount of Palmer's stuff. good luck! xx

My son told me about CSP after watching it on some tv show. I felt the same way - I'm not crazy. I've always knows that I have this OCD, but it's been easier telling everyone it was a bad habit. I've been doing this for years and I'm disgusted with myself every time I finish and see what I've done. I've managed to spread this all other both my arms and now going towards my back and legs. What meds are available and which have worked? I currently take the antidepressant Effexor, but I know I need to take something to be able to stop picking.
