Is Zoloft causing me to pick?

I was wondering if anyone has had a similar side effect. I have always picked a little, but now it's obsessive. I'm afraid to stop taking the Zoloft, because I'm afraid I'll be really depressed. I've put on loads of weight and am covered in scabs and scars.

I hope you can find answers to your questions I am failing miserably at this 40 day challenge of not picking. It is not easy.

Hey, I am wondering if anti-depressants are related to skin picking as well. As soon as I started my antidepressant, I started compulsively picking my skin. I used to have really clear skin, now my face is covered in ugly dark scars. It gets so bad that I skip school or exams or even work. I don't go to family functions any more either. I wish I could tell someone, but it is so embarassing.

unfortunately, anxiety and restlessness are listed as common side effects of ssri's. and since picking is a release to anxieties it might stand to reason the ssri's could worsen picking behaviours. the same with restlessness. i'm dealing with just that, too. i am on the lowest dose of my antidepressant to keep me from being too blue because i am too sensitive to the side effects of dosages any higher. on higher dosages i'd feel too anxious. my jaws'd get sore from clenching my teeth 24/7. but on the lowest dose that is less so and i'm just above being too blue. it sucks to be a sensitive feeling person. i just am concentrating real hard, real determinedly, really committed and focused on not taking it out on my skin. i tell myself that my skin deserves to be treated well - lovingly. i tell myself that self harm is not an option. it's a fight, for sure, but one i want to win very badly.
