Owner/Director - Dr. Craig April, Ph.D., has his doctorate in psychology and is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist. He has been an internationally recognized expert in OCD, Dermatillomania and Trichotillomania since serving as a psychologist cast member treating these syndromes on the A&E TV series OBSESSED. He has appeared as an expert on numerous radio shows and on HLN. He has also been quoted in many publications, including newspapers and even Cosmopolitan magazine. All staff therapists at The April Center are Licensed Psychologists or Doctorate-level therapists registered with the California Board of Psychology.

Therapy methods

We use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) primarily focused on Habit Reversal Training (HRT) and the teaching / providing of healthy habit blockers and mindfulness techniques. When appropriate, stress management and assertiveness training are also incorporated. For OCD, panic attacks and phobias, our key strategy is Exposure and Response Prevention.

The April Center For Anxiety Attack Management - Los Angeles is a private, confidential, outpatient treatment center specializing in the treatment of all anxiety disorders and OCD related syndromes, such as: Dermatillomania (compulsive skin picking), Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), Social Anxiety, Panic Disorder / Panic Attacks, Hypochondria (health anxiety), Agoraphobia and all other phobias. We use only scientifically proven and natural methods of treatment under the category of CBT and HRT. That said, we offer individualized treatment plans (with all strategies based on the above) in order to meet the needs and symptoms of each and every person seeking our help. We treat adults and teenagers. We also offer phone therapy sessions for those far from the office or unable to travel. We also offer phone sessions to those unable to locate skin picking treatment specialists in their area.
