Stress Picking

I usually pick at small skin tags and scabs when I am stressed, which leads to scarring and bleeding. The worst is picking when Im at work, because I know its a nasty habit in general, it just looks bad, and if I pick a scab and start to bleed that makes it even worse. Anyhow, the other day I got a large blister on the bottom of my heel and it was so painful that I had to get my boyfriend to pop it. Turns out, it was a blister over a blister over a blister. Once they had been popped, I had a bit of tenderness in my heel, but it slowly got better. Unfortunately my stress picking got the best of me, and I ended up picking away at the three layers of skin that were the blisters... Now I have a very raw, very large sore patch of new skin on my heel, and the pain is excruciating. I resorted to hobbling around and finally put some lotion on it to sooth the dryness, however... nothing has helped for the pain. If anyone could give me any input on what to do about this please let me know! Ive been trying to keep busy all day to avoid picking at the other skin around what Ive already torn off.. but its hard because of the pain. I cant ignore it.

i think you should see your doctor to ensure you haven't gotten an infection now. and discuss the picking and see what is suggested. picking will not likely go away on its own and more than likely will worsen. take action on it now with this incident as cause and resolve to do no more damage to your skin.

Yeah I have been thinking that as well. Ill have to wait until the weekend is over to book an appointment. As far as picking I think that Ive been doing better than before... Although I could just be saying that for my own sake haha. Im really just worried about my foot right now. I think Im gonna have to take a tylenol or two to ease the pain for the time being.

yes, take some pain meds, clean it up, bandage it, and take your weight off of it. lay yourself down and raise it so it is above your heart. i hope you feel some relief soon and that your foot gets better. and of course, i do hope you have your picking under control
