NEW FACEBOOK PAGE

Hey everyone, I just started a facebook page called 'skin picking'. Please join and send the link to all your friends, everyone you know. Part of my healing process has been coming out of hiding. I think if we start promoting awareness of CSP, society will be a little less cruel when we're ready to come out of hiding and heal. Also, when I first started picking, I didn't even know what it was, I started at age 13. I'm nineteen now and amazingly with a lot of endurance and dirty looks, I am defying picking. But it breaks me as I see all of you new young girls sharing your pain. I was there and it kills me that these young cases keep popping up. If society became more aware, maybe we can prevent this. Let's do this for each other, let's come out of hiding, let's keep this from happening.

I know where everyone is coming from. There were years in which no one knew about it, not a single soul, until it got so bad that even the makeup wouldn't keep my secret. People aren't giving us the time of day when it comes to understanding CSP, but that's because we haven't given them the time of day to explain CSP. In fact, a lot of us don't even know what's happening because we've never heard of this, we think we're the only ones. For those that are able to come out of hiding, I think you should join this. I'm not hardly close with any of my friends on facebook either, but I got to thinking, since we're all so secretive about this, who knows...maybe one of my facebook 'friends' are suffering with skin picking as well. And as I'm recovering from six years of skin picking, as I'm looking in the mirror everyday now without cringing, I just want everyone else to recover as well. The healing is so empowering, so if you can muster the strength, I think its time we give the time of day to explain CSP.

yeah i found it too, its a really good idea but i carnt join either. the thing is with facebook is that im friends with people that i dont know very well, for example people who i knew from school or people i met a couple of times. im not ready to share personal problems such as my skin picking with them as i dont think they would take the time to understand what it is. im worried they would just asume im mental as they dont know me very well, its different when you share your problems with close friends and family as they take the time to understand because they know your not just mental or weird.

Oh my goodness, if I ever let this nasty "cat" out of the bag to anyone I knew besides my mom and husband I would just curl up and die, but the concept I can appreciate.
